Author Topic: Is there a CityRPG mod that isn't stuff?  (Read 1571 times)

All the mods I've seen so far for the CityRPG have had viruses, backdoors, rats, and ect.
Is there one that wasn't stuff on by the OP?

well suburbia seems ok but it's not released yet :P

Jasa's CRP was always fun IMO.

The mod isn't stuff, the servers and design is stuff.

For a good cityRPG to work you need what no one wants to talk about, restrictions.

No one is going to join on a server that restricts events and can't let them plant big ass loving cubes for no reason. So the server will just be chaos.

50% correct as always, Tony.
The mod IS stuff, and the servers and design is stuff. First off, Ibans City RPG code makes me want to vomit. Without delving into a 5 paragraph essay why, I'll just paraphrase. It's inefficient as forget, there's enough exploits that you can exploit to make the server crash, etc, that it's pretty scary, and overall it's just laggy and memory intensive.

Having a good mod doesn't make a good server. Having a competent administration, good city, and balanced jobs can make a pretty decent server. Having less server-crashing bugs is a plus too.

For administration I've found it's better to have a 'hands off' approach. Rules like "no killing laborers" and "no pickpocketing in bank" tend to drive players away. A little chaos is always fun.

For the city it's better to have a smaller, more concentrated city. Players won't put any effort into their builds if there's no competition for lot space. Having a ton of empty lots is just a freebuild with roads. Plus, if there's quality builds to the left and right of a space, chances are they'll put more effort into the final project.

i have a soft spot for rp core but thats probably because jjstorm's old city rpg server was really good

Very good ideas. To add on to "smaller, more concentrated city", I think that if you're gonna have a large map you should theme the different areas. Downtown, suburbs, etc.

I would also post the image quote but I don't want to be chainbanned
