Author Topic: A small thing needed for the forums  (Read 1492 times)

A lock on old topics.  Say after a few months a topic was automatically locked to prevent those major bumps that are becoming more common.  Possibly also once locked only the creator of the thread could un-lock it say for a new add-on update.  This way the makes of it would not have to worry about locking it later.  Seriously this spam needs to end.

Not sure if this should go in drama so move if needed

after a few months of inactivity? or a few months from when it is started?

I vote against this due to download links getting broken.

If you have something relevant to contribute, you should be able to post regardless of topic age.

If it means some people abuse it, deal with it. Unlocking topics every time you have something you want to add or having to start a new topic every time you want to add something to an old topic is even more of an inconvenience than just having the occasional person bump something.

The bumping isn't really all that much of a problem, not yet at least.

One forum I was on once had this: if you bump a topic, when you click on "Post Reply", this pops up:

This topic is older than a month old. Are you sure you want to post?

Something to that extent might be useful.

A few months from post.

Good idea.

Yeah a warning of some kind would make morons wake up.

I still think we need a rating system.

I can't wait till RTB2 when people go over to the RTB forums, they already have a reputation mod.
