Rifles are long guns.

i think the specific word here is assault rifles. its pretty clear that anything assault wise made easily purchased would only enable more shootings to happen, not lessen it. handguns and home defense weapons like shotguns/rifles, sure, but there's not really any reason to allow access to full assault rifles to the public.

the caliber of such rifles also tends to penetrate any armor police/swat members have as well, unless its downscaled for civilians.

correct me if im wrong anywhere. i dont have a complete grip on gun laws/definitions/regulations but i've watched and read a bunch of stuff that relates to guns at times so i'm speaking from that memory.

Almost every Hardcore Gamer in the past decade has been armed with handguns as well. Mass shootings will happen as long as guns exist and banning a specific type of gun most people don't even own won't solve anything

thats because they're much more accessible. i cant imagine making assault rifles anywhere near as accessible as handguns wouldnt change that statistic drastically.

making assault rifles more accessible would not help anything and only make it more risky for police officers responding to shooting threats. police (and probably even swat) aren't equipped with armor to protect against assault rifle ammunition, but are equipped to stop handgun rounds.

keeping assault rifles banned wont lessen shooting incidents, but it will make them less deadly and dangerous to respond to.
