Author Topic: How do I wipe an iPod Touch completely clean?  (Read 1285 times)

I didnt want to make the title obnoxiously long, but how do I clear an iPod Touch with an old iCloud ID on it?
I've tried restoring from iTunes but it still asks me for the iCloud ID/password and I can't get past setup due to it.

Glasses wipes and cleaner

soak it in rice for 30 minutes

probably look for hard reset options online, but im fairly sure all depend on icloud id/password or at the very least restrictions password. maybe some 3rd party applications can help but idk if you can trust those

If it has find my iPod enabled on it, you'll have to remove it from your old iCloud account first to be able to use it.
To hard reset it: you'll want to enter Recovery Mode, and download the latest SIGNED firmware for your device. http://ipsw.me is great for this. Go into iTunes, and click restore. Select your IPSW file, and wait for it to finish restoring, and you'll have a clean phone. You CANNOT set it up without removing it from your old iCloud account, however, due to Find my iPod and etc.

If you're just trying to remove iCloud, go to http://iCloud.com and login with the one you set it up with. Go to Find my iPhone, scroll down to your device, click it, and press Remove/Delete/whatever. This will remove it from your iCloud account, allowing you to restore/set it up as new.
If you can't remove it from your iCloud account, then you're forgeted.

soak it in rice for 30 minutes
this will attract asians, so bolt your doors shut

Pretty sure you can do a factory reset by holding down the home and sleep buttons simultaneously.
