Author Topic: Randomized Mission Gamemode?  (Read 552 times)

A quick note, if I worked on this I'd do it after at least getting a proper paint gun working if not the entire paint gun based gamemode. This is NOT a request, this is a discussion of a potential gamemode, attempting to develop the idea rather than asking people to make it.

I looked at the satchel charge addon, and saw the demo GIF where it's used to blow up a tank. That got me thinking, what if one team's given setup time to prepare for an enemy with unknown resources and objectives? They would have to ask "Do they have a tank? Do they need to go across that bridge?" and such. Then, the other team has to figure out what's going on, where the enemy team is, and coordinate to cover what they think are the most likely objectives. The offense team is given maybe three objectives per round, to be done in a specific order. The defense team can try to sneak into a base or get close to members of the enemy team to listen in on teamchat to try and find either mission orders or clues as to what the offense team is planning to do.

Anyone got any thoughts on how this idea could be improved, or opinions on how well you think it'd play? It's certainly not perfect yet.

Best to keep things like 'listen in on things when in proximity' out of it because that just gives people the incentive to use third party chatting instead, which ends up breaking a team's communication.

I'd say reveal the current objective to the defending team if either a certain amount of time has passed, or if the objective has made progress.

Like, let's say, 2-3 minutes depending on map/objective before it's revealed, and like... If there's a control point, the objective gets revealed once one of the attackers touches it, etc.
