Author Topic: Please Help Me: Sqlite Error 8  (Read 1718 times)

Hello, peoples, I have been having an error for the last couple of weeks. Every time I try to open Blockland I would get the Sqlite Error #8. After this, I would have to wait an hour or so before I could play again without issue. This actually used to be a bigger problem with the game crashing with another Sqlite Error before finishing downloading the File Manifest while joining a server; but, has been reduced to just opening the game. Here are some more details.

1: No I do not use any kind of Antivirus, I use Windows Defender
2: I have Windows 10
3: I have tried Reinstalling the game three times with these variables controlled: Keeping Add-Ons, Saves, and Screenshots
4: I'm not sure if it's a storage issue, I only own about 7 games (including Blockland)
5: I get the same message every time and in the game's console window (the one that opens with the .exe since the game is so god damn old) says how it attempts to write to the readable file but is unable to
6: This started after I did a clean sweep on my pc and reinstalled the OS and I kept my add-ons using a flash drive

If you can come up with a reason to why the game won't open sometimes ASAP that would be great. Please help. :cookieMonster: :cookieMonster: :cookieMonster:

it sounds like your cache.db is read-only
try setting it to read and write instead
if that doesn't work, then try renaming cache.db to cache2.db

another good test to do is to rename your blockland folder (ie to blockland2) and reinstall, that way you can be sure everything is default, while keeping your data

4: I'm not sure if it's a storage issue, I only own about 7 games (including Blockland)
you can check the storage remaining by opening file explorer and going to "This PC" in the address bar

Souns good. I'll try this. Also, I think it's also because my add-ons are corrupted. I'll try reinstalling without keeping add-ons if what you said does not work.

nothing to do with your addons. this happens if you are loading on two servers simultaneously: aka, your cache.db is being written to/modified twice at the same time. make sure your blockland process is fully closed when restarting bl and joining a server

I checked and the file is writable, isn't read only, and is modifiable.

Okay now this game is being a real piece of crap. I can enter and exit no problem now. But, now my game will crash randomly with the same sqlite error before finishing downloading the file manifest. I don't know what to do. I tried renaming the cache but it would not let me rename it.

why not?
did you close BL first?

Yes. but it gives me an error saying that it cannot be renamed. Do I rename the cache in the blockland folder or the one in the Windows C: thingy.

Okay wait it just let me do it. I guess when I tried blockland was somehow still running. Let me test it out.

yeah you'd get sqlite errors if bl is still running and modifying the file while you attempt to load on another bl instance on some server. something seems odd in the fact that you claim to close the window yet clearly cant modify the file name - you should check for sure that only one BL process is running at any one time

Okay so the errors have seemed to of stopped! Thank you guys! Of course if it just happens again I'll come back to this thread but I am grateful for your help!  :cookieMonster: :cookieMonster: :cookieMonster:
