Author Topic: how do i model a weapon add on  (Read 3598 times)

just make a folder...??

name the folder like Weapon_FirstGun or something
oops that post did not make sense i meant this post to know
Its gonna be hard to make the images and the options on what even its gonna go to and the sounds

well thats coding a weapon and theres no way around having to do it other than getting someone to do it for you

I started knowing jackstuff about weapons and made my stuffty but working suomilauncher by just going trough the code and replacing names and values

has nobody thought to mention sketchup?

workflow is complicated and not advisable for newbies who are trying to model specifically for  bl

as you well know importing said models into blender for export involves a ton of cleanup, and you can't even transfer any animations anyways so you might as well do the entire thing in blender if you're new and doing this /specifically/ for BL.

yeah but its like suuuuuuuper easy to model things in it. like i modeled a whole spaceship, textured, animated and exported it in 20 minutes.

being able to draw with vectors instead of like, manually making shapes and extruding it with blender's 100000-key interface is so helpful

hey look everyone prefers something different, if he doesnt work well with blender then suggest other things

modeling software is like mac vs pc except worse. don't get that started in here.

or like vi vs emacs

So i have to download a weapon and i take out the stuff and i put my weapon in it and though its gonna be hard to make the images and the option on what even its gonna go to and the sounds
you can probably just copy the default gun or something like ephi's shotgun
if you're just focused on modeling you don't really need to touch the other aspects (keep the firing script simple, reuse sounds that are default/other addons)

can someone make a video tutorial on modeling items and using files so i know better

1) use a side-view reference image
2) with blender, add vertices over all the edges of the item to form a shape. with sketchup, draw lines over the edges
3) extrude

this is basically the simplest way to make items

or make cubes and adjust/extrude/bevel edges and faces like a normal person

but yeah its hard to get started. you need to understand how to manipulate 3d shapes well - if you can build decently well ingame you will pick up modeling more easily than if you struggle with building ingame

why can't that someone be you?
you should have as much access to google as we do
