Today, I ran a test server to try out the minigame and to see what works best for a normal gamemode. I managed to get at least three players, and had a jolly good time. (I'm not counting the other two because they left before they could spawn in) The gamemode basically uses the same CP system that the original Battlefront did. I also added 4 new classes to the mix.
Assault Class
Armed with an automated rifle and the courage of a true soldier, the assault class is ready to fight wherever, whenever, and whoever they are. Also trained in the medical field, they are always on standby when their units are scarred in battle.
Engineer Class
The Engineer is a machine junkie with victory in mind. This victory can only be achieved using a wide array of gadgets, including C4's. With their expert knowledge in technology, they can take on even the most toughest of foes.
Support Class
The Support class, the toughest of foes, have some of the strongest weapons around, including a heavy machine gun to mow down their enemies. Infantry should feel safer behind a literal walking tank ready to take the fight to the enemy.
Scout Class
Silently creeping through the bushes is the Scout Class. A soldier with wits and knowledge of their environments, their speed and agility can navigate terrain faster than a pod racer. Armed with a long-ranged sniper rifle, no one is safe out in the open.
There might be more classes that can be unlocked using points, but I would have to do some hardcore eventing to make sure that everything works properly. Eventually when a class is chosen, there will also be a world map to find CP's to spawn in.
On the topic of vehiculare warfare, unfortunately there will be none. Finding good vehicles on the forums is a pain, and the X-Wing, AT-ST, and the Tie Fighter just will not do. If the furture brings some good mods that will allow us to fight with machines, that would be fantastic, but until then, it is only a dream.
The biggest thing that I need to worry about is the amount of add-ons I'm running with the gamemode I want to make sure that everyone can play without having to spend 10-30 minutes just trying to spawn in the game. In order for this to happen, I believe that people who don't want to wait to long for the game to load to uncheck their Textures and Sound in the Options > Network tab. Music can also be turned off, but the ambience and the music will be unavaliable to players. Heck, one of the tracks are 14 minutes long! Once I start getting maps completed, I recommend player who want to play the test servers to download all of the add-ons that I will put up sometime later. Other gamemodes such as Elimination, Capture the Flag, And a Boutny Hunter Gamemode, will be avaliable when the game is finally released, including a tutorial that can be played! That is all!
