Author Topic: steam disables market transactions for the netherlands as law comes in action  (Read 829 times)

the anti lootbox/gambling law is due tomorrow, and steam has made their move: disabling csgo and dota market transactions (trading, selling, buying). loot boxes are still available of course, as the law only bans the sale of unboxed items

ive luckily sold my tat years ago, but i do own a Ak hydroponic of 70$, which isnt even unboxable, making it unavailable for dutch players except for ppl that already own it

i wonder how they are going to continue, it probably wont stay like this as they will lose all market income (15% tax) from our country which would be a big number

im guessing everyone will just use a vpn anyways

that's gay

This is a very good point and people will always find a way around this, though there is a chance they could block VPN connections but I could be wrong on that.

yea vpns are working but i wouldnt be surprised valve is gonna spank that account if you get caught, your account info has multiple ways to prove your country

This seems a bit extreme.

Microtransactions are a bitch, but outright banning them is handicapped.
having an 18+ law and a proper way to veryify, more than a "How old are you?" text box, would help.
