Should teachers take points off of a grade because you didnt use notes

Encouragement and Enforcement are not synonyms.

if you're in a meeting with some ceos and you dont participate at all you'll probably not be allowed to attend future meetings. whether thats encouragement or enforcement, who the forget cares. just participate in class holy stuff lol. everyone pays loving taxes so you can enjoy the benefits of society and infrastructure learn to actually contribute to society instead of begrudgingly complaining about how forcing people to contribute is liberal slavery or some stuff you  friend. you aren't being 'enforced' to contribute you're being encouraged because if you dont people will be less likely to support you or your success. why should the teachers give you a good grade if you dont give something back to the class?

you're strongly encouraged to participate in class because part of growing up to be a social entity is to learn how to contribute to your surrounding society. what better place to practice contribution than a fully tax-funded classroom that i partially pay for every year so you have a chance to succeed in life

Schools try to prepare students for college.

With that being said you can literally skip every loving college class and still pass when you take the test.

because you're only being trained to be a good little obedient worker

Ironically the average job starts at 9am.

While schools on average start a loving 6am.
