Author Topic: How To Make A CI?  (Read 2031 times)

Ok so i just completed learning how to make an Item Icom and now all i need to lean how to make a CI anyone wanna share their ideas?

Cheating solution:
Spawn your item in Construct and step away somewhat and take screenshot. In paint.net, delete the white, shrink the image to the normal CI size, and change the color curve thingies until it is red.

In your modelling program, move the camera so you see the object (i.e. Rifle shows the gun) or its projectile (i.e. Bow shows an arrow) facing to the right.
Open Add-Ons/CI/Gun.png in Photoshop, The GIMP, etc. Any program that isn't MS Paint will work.
Use the "Eye Dropper" or "Colour Selector" and the "Pencil" tools to take the colours from the Gun and draw your own icon, using the model you have open as a reference. You could also change the materials temporarily so the gun appears all red so you can do the shading right.
Save the icon in Add-Ons/CI as a transparent PNG.

I would just pixel it then make it transparent in photoshop.

Yes, I was explaining how to get an actual reference of your model (so that the CI looks right) and how to get the right colours for "pixelling in stuff".

why would you draw it by hand? just take a screenshot of it in game in construct, open in photoshop and magic eraser the white out, then change the hue to red, resize and add a 1-2 pixel black stroke.

I'd draw it by hand because its quicker than going to construct, spawning it, opening it in photoshop(which alone takes a minute to open), magic erasering the white out, changing the hue to red, resizing it, and adding a 1-2 pixel black stroke.

Also that just gives you a view of the weapon, not the effect it has(when you get shot by a rocket launcher, does it show a rocket or a rocket launcher?)

thats why you spawn the projectile instead
