Can anyone recommend a good avi to gif converter? All of the ones ive found always crashed.

Camtasia. Just put the avi file in it like Windows Movie Maker, and produce the video as a custom movie file. Make it a gif, bam-zippity-do-da.

I go via Flash into ImageReady.

Windows Movie maker only imports it as audio

You can put Avi files in Camtasia.
