I believe the GPU's automatically downclock themselves when they aren't receiving the power they need.

Have you tried it with/without the power plug in and run some benchmarks? I'd be interested to see. Also, what card do you have again?

I don't care for benchmarks (as in cpumark, not FPS comparisons) just raw fps tests. 8600gts

I meant raw FPS tests and we're talking about GPU benchmarks anyway...not the less reliable CPU benchmarks.

Well I don't know of a program that rates GPUs off the top of my head, so I just said the first thing that came to mind. And sure, maybe later, but I've tried it before and never saw a difference.
