Author Topic: My Personal Debate: Why Should I Buy Blockland?  (Read 2693 times)

I'm new here on the forums and I need some answers (since the F.A.Q. page didn't answer mine). My first question is can I build my own maps like the slopes? And if I can build my own maps what map editing software do I have to use and what does the the editor (if there is one) look like? My second question is how many people actually play Blockland per day and how many bought the game? And finally my third question is is there any other way to build objects (buildings, houses, bridges etc.) other than using my character to place bricks down (It takes a ridiculously long amount of time to build things with my avitar)?

Thanks for helping,
Godbox

PS: If you have any other information for me that would make me want to buy Blockland please post it.

1. Yes, not sure what software you need.
2. Theres around 8,000 ids, to thats theres about 8,000 players, 200 players is the highess I've seen it at one time.
3. No, you have to build with your own blockguy.

I don't like your answer to my third question. I was hopping there was another way to build. But thanks for the feedback =)

Yes there is a mission editor, thats what its called. To use it create a notepad file in your main blockland folder, inside it put "blockland-mod editor" without the quotations then go to save as. Change the save type from .txt to "all files" and name it, blockland + mission editor.bat. Thats how it worked for me, to use it in game press f11 and f10 for gui editor.

Rest of the questions..what cuda said.

Thanks for the feedback. Question; how come the "mission editor" isn't included in Blockland once you purchase it? Perhaps thats a question Badspot should answer.

Because he doesn't want handicaps making maps.

1. Yes, but please don't release anything you create. First maps hardly ever turn out.

2. Enough, except on school mornings. When I occasionally get on in the mornings, I see about ten servers.

3. You could, in theory, switch into F8-flyaround mode, but this messes up the direction you move bricks in because it's centered around your avatar. But there are no programs or macro-creators. What you see in the demo is how you build.

Blockland is an excellent game. Best $20 I've ever spent.

No worries, you'll get used to building in first person soon enough. Plenty of us build pretty fast. For me, the only issue is knowing what I'm going to build, really.

BL is definitely worth the 20 bucks. It's a sandbox game, so it's not like a game where you beat the levels, see THE END, and throw it in the back of your closet. It's always changing, and it stays fun.

1.
Yes, You can build on ANY map that has a flat surface.
2.
If you want to build interiors you will have to get a 3D modeling program or an interior program, I think it's 'Torque Constructor', but i'm not sure. And if you want landscapes just modify the target of your shortcut file.
3.
The Mission editor, just a window that comes up. It shows the X,Y,Z axis and has other editors with it (GUI editor)
4.
There are quite a few people that play Blockland. You will make friends fast, unless your an idiot. All of the people that play have payed for the game, besides Badspot (Maker of the game) and possibly some beta testers.
5.
You have to use your avatar to build. The default controls Badspot has chosen, can be mastered fast. When you master these controls building will be simpler than when using legos. I can make a big house in under 15 minutes.

Buy Blockland end of story.

For some reason this made me miss the times I had before the id 4000's came out. The 4000's Hate me.

got stale after about 1 1/2 years of solid addiction for me

Christs sake, don't buy this game, don't play with us.
