dedicated hosting on same ip address

hi, im having a bit of trouble with dedi servers.

i have 2 pc's, my main pc and a purpose built server pc for blockland. I want to be able to host a dedicated server on the server pc and to be able to connect to it from my main pc but it wont work and i dont understand why.

Both pc's are on a router, ive forwarded ports for the server pc but it still wont work.

i need help. thanks.

Well it shows up as dead in the server list for my main pc aswell as anyone else.

Create a Static IP for your server computer and make sure the ports are forwarded. If it is showing up as Dead in the Master Server List then it's a good bet that the ports are not configured correctly.

static ip as in 192.168.0.x? and default gateway would be set to 192.168.0.0

Do the following to set up a static IP for your server computer:

- Make sure it has internet
- Go to Start and click on Run
- Type Cmd and hit OK
- type into the console: ipconfig /all
- find the Ethernet adapter you are using for Internet on your server (Wireless adapter if you are using one)
- Copy down it's IP address, Default Gateway, and DNS Servers (THERE ARE TWO)
- Go into Control Panel and find Network Connections
- Right click on the network connection you're using; should be called Local Area Connection or something close to that
- Click Properties
- Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- Click Use the following IP Address
- Enter the data that you copied down (SUBNET MASK WILL AUTO APPEAR ONCE YOU CLICK ON IT)
- Hit Ok
- Check to make sure the server still has internet (Open Internet Explorer)
- Forward the port to the IP you have just entered in.

After these steps it should work for you. These steps were written for XP. Vista will be mostly the same though it may take more digging around to find the Network Connections area in Control panel.

Ok ive dont exactly what you said, i now realize i already knew how to do that lol. I thought there was another way, oh well. so far on a regular server my main pc cant join but everyone else can, on a dedicatedm server my main pc cant join and neither can anyone else. server shows up dead :( Anyone know what to do?
