Author Topic: Computer recovering from a serious error  (Read 948 times)

Ok, so I was playing Portal:The First Slice and all of a sudden the computer shuts down, then restarts. Then when it turs on, It say that My computer just recovered form a serious error, and that it has prevented a blue screen error.
What should I do?

Apparently your computer can't handle it I guess.

try this:

1. Right click Portal The First Slice
2. properties
3. Set launch options
4. Type in "-dxlevel 80" without the quotes
5. Click ok
6. Launch Garry's mod
If worked, go to eight, else, continue.
7. Contact someone else and have them fix the problem.
8. Celebrate.

I dont have Garry's mod.

Still try it. Just replace "Garry's mod" with "Portal: The First Slice" in instructions.

Fix'd.
or read that

What will that do?
And by the way, I was joking.

It'll make the game run on DirectX 8.0 instead of 9.0. In some cases it does help.

It'll look probably 0.8% less pretty but it might work.

I have all the settings on low already so...

You don't get it. Running it in DX8 will likely fix it. Just try it.
