Author Topic: Master server change?  (Read 3395 times)

Why, if people make a server named "Badspot's Blockparty", they'll just look like an idiot. (Blockhead's Badspot's Blockparty)

Badspot, you could just make it so if Badspot is in a name it doesn't allow the server to be made.

People still do stuff like "Rotondo's Server testing zombies" and "Traders elevators."

I really think the best solution is to just shove people's names in there.

Can't people still make dedicated servers running demo?

I find this change to the master server listing obstructive and highly unneeded. What if I or someone else wanted to host a server for someone or what if I wanted to host it for a community/group? It'll now say,"KINEX's [Insert real title here]".

Badspot: You wanted people to be able to save builds no matter what when the issue of build stealing came up long ago. Now you want to force people's names into their server name because someone plasters their server title with your name?

When someone puts a name on their server title it usually isn't a big deal. Not only is RTB prevalent enough for people to check a server's information, but people would join and F2 to see if the person is who they say they are if they don't have RTB.

If you don't want people "impersonating" others by a server title, you should also block people from changing names within a server!

my servers are always "kakashi11 - something here"
great now my server said kakashi11 kakashi11's minicity rpg
also if you want 's you need to put 's _something here

It wasn't just that server. People have been impersonating Badspot and kompressor and others for a while.

We already went over this. The RTB feature that you're discussing is able to be turned off, and if it's a dedicated server, people could say that they left.

Well if your clan is really worth it, you can buy another bl id and change its name to the clan tag...

The problem is that people have become more prevalent in this and started to use scripts and other things to impersonate him. They are using things that can even make you talk as him, act as him. even using fake clients to emulate a player on F2. Next thing would be trying to crack blockland.

It probably seems like i'm picking on you but genuinely everything you say is hilariously handicapped in some way or another. An impersonation script and an authentication cracker are two vastly different things.

I think the server name thing is pretty unnecessary and could be avoided by having a "Server Owner" column or just by making a list of keywords that can't be in server names like "Badspot" and "Kompressor" etc.

to hell with stopping impersonators.
i can find my friends now easier :D

first gotta make some friends

now i guess i rename my server from Bisjac's makeout party, to just makeout party

when's it gonna be up?

Server named " - Anybody's - Anybody's - Anybody's - Anybody's" shows up as "Anybody's - - - Anybody's".
Only removes the name 2 times?

This is a much more viable solution than what have been given with currently. Such a feature wouldn't be hard to introduce since the next big update shouldn't me much longer.
