Author Topic: Mountpoint limit?  (Read 1291 times)

I'm working on a small side project away from the Star Wars pack, a vehicle that is supposed to transport your teammates onto the battlefield. It's supposed to also have 24 mountpoints inside excluding the driver. I don't get why only the first 6 mountpoints work. Has there been a limit assigned?

24 people in a server is laggy, so it's unlikely they will all be in 1 vehicle.

Not if it's a DM :3
You know those noobs and their DM's, they're always in them  :cookieMonster:
I mean, I remembered those TDM servers from v9 where we'd all get into a jeep. The problem with that was people'd be left out.

Yes it is limited. Just like you cant mount a million weapons.

Obviously you can't mount a million weapons. But what I mean is, why have a mount limit to a vehicle? Blockheads have two hands, and I get that you should only have 2 at a time. But why would you limit seats?

Theres actually 5 mountpoints to a player. I don't know why Badspot limited seat mount points. I'm not him.

Hahajk.

Oh man, I was totally in a dogfight on the slopes server once. Eight of us piled into one bus with all sorts of weapons. Epic.

YEAH, that's exactly what I mean! Just, like, a big vehicle for room for people to get in, and when someone gets in your way everyone in the vehicle nukes 'em.
Also, I just noticed I didn't change the max mount points :3
But it probably does still have a limit =\

The bus had some ridiculous amount like 10.

I think 10 is the max.

The more mount points the more lag the vehicle produces, it can get incredibly laggy if there's 10 mount points on 1 vehicle then there's 4 of the same vehicle spawned.

That's why I plan to not release it, and to only use one per deathmatch.
Of course I'm not about to dump this hideous gigantic block on you guys ;)

Regarding the mounting of shapes....

In TGE 1.4, I have mounted 32 shapes onto a single object. The eight slot limitation therefore appears to apply only to ShapeBaseImages, and not to actual shapes. Given that the function for mounting objects does not allow you to specify a mount slot, this does make some sense. My suspicion is that mounting objects as opposed to shapes does not consume any slots at all.

It may also be helpful to note in the description of mounting that mounted objects also inherit the scale of the object they are mounted to, and that there appears to be no limit on how many nested mounts can happen.

I think you can mount as many people as you like to a vehicle, at least through script. I'm not sure what the limit on the automatic numMountPoints = X; thing in the datablock is, though.

numMountPoints is a tagged field, there is no limit.
