Author Topic: Need Coding Help  (Read 487 times)

If you have read my post in the gallery or not, I'm making an Medival RPG.  For this RPG there will be jousting, and how can you joust without a lance.  Now Seventhsandwich is working on a model for one right now so thats covered.  What he couldn't do is code it.  I need someone to give me a good description of how to code a lance weapon.
*Things that need to be included.
An animation of it slowly coming down and across.
A dismounting (maybe slight damage too) ability
  Sound effects
Pieces of wood flying off as it breaks, the comes back to its normal form

This all may sound hard, but if you give me a tutorial on how to do some of this stuff, then that would be appreciated.

Also anyone have an idea of how to make a MIDI into an ogg. ?

For your first rpg, I recommend you do it with events and pre-existing add-ons.

I know you have all these big expectations but scripting isn't easy, and you can't just have someone hold your hand for each step of such a complicated weapon as what you described.

Start simple.

Also, I changed your ambiguous topic title.

I looked at some examples and have realised that, its even more complicated than I thought.  I'll stick to what you said.  Anyway this is my 2nd RPG I made one before that ended up fairly decent.  Oh yeah I forgot...
*Things that need to be included.
An animation of it slowly coming down and across. (Over my head)
A dismounting (maybe slight damage too) ability (Over my head)
Sound effects (closest to my head)
Pieces of wood flying off as it breaks, the comes back to its normal form (Way, way over my head)

I thought I was smart for my age, until I found out the people making all the addons are actually younger than me.
