Author Topic: I need help setting up my PC controller  (Read 675 times)

Okay, I bought a PC controller for games like Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2, and Left 4 Dead. I didn't know how to set it up for HL2, but it worked with TF2 but one problem, I can't use the right stick to make it go up and the right stick is for aiming left and right and moving and I don't know how to set this up right. Instructions really didn't help at all.

Help?

you would be at a horrible disadvantage using a game pad for a pc shooter.
online, they will kick your ass

I'm actually used to using a controller all the time. I do pretty good at shooters online with a controller. Inb4somedramastartsup

yea on an xbox maybe. but the other players are also using gamepads.
that is an extremely different thing then a mouse.
no matter how good you think you are, a joystick nowhere near as fast and accurate as a mouse.

why do you think the HL port onto the 360 has a crosshair 4 times the size?

Well, you don't know till you try really, I don't care if I get raped in a server, I still feel like using a controller once in a while. My wrists also get a little sore after a while when I use my keyboard so I'm more used to using a controller.

A mouse is the way to go. For single player, go for it, multiplay, I would ban you just for thinking it is a good idea.

I tried in tf2 they will loving MAUL YOU

You could not even play pyro. The turning speed would be horrible and upping it would only make your aiming horrible.  I have played with people who use them and I did not get hit even standing still.

Okay, yeah I think I'm starting to see where everyone is getting at:

It's good for single player but not for online/multiplayer

This'll be great for me because I plan on buying single player games instead of online ones at the moment. I think it's easy for me to lock this thread I guess.
