Author Topic: Why Give More Than 100 Years To A Convict?  (Read 1464 times)

I'm sure everyone's got to agree with this.
After reading that Madoff thing, about the 150 years, I remembered I have a small rant about sentencing.
I hate how people actually give more than one life sentence, especially if everybody realizes the guy/girl's going to die on the first life sentence, because it's a life sentence.
Plus you've also gotta figure that if someone's in jail for a life sentence the inmates there aren't going to like them very much to begin with.
/end of rant

Maybe if we get life support for people they will stay alive
just in case they don't really decide they just add up.

Dunno.

If someone gets 100 years, but gets bailed out at 40 year mark, but go BACK to jail, the years that where left over are added on to the current record along with more time.

Well that's how I would do it.

Go google it

That makes perfect sense. =D

Some international law stating you cant execute someone over a certain age.

Buddhist have to be punished for their crimes too!

I just lol'd. =P
Thing is what if said Buddhi-- You know, forget it, not going to start a religion arguement.

Yes because killing stops working after a certain age.

Yes because killing stops working after a certain age.
if the guy is 90 and he has to wait 20 years before he dies, I think life would do the job earlier.

The judicial system is loving crazy.

Seriously.

Isn't bail/tariff in relation to the amount of years sentenced? Unless ofcourse he was sentenced without bail.

because they are smart :D

they know that medical sciences are improving, and that in 2020 our average age deaths shall be 1890 years!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I am not amused.

It was a joke....?

I think multiple life penalties are there so if he wins the trial for one penaltie, he'll have to win the others.

That's a problem they have with war criminals who are in their 70's and 80's now. Such as the Khmer Rouge camp officers.

I don't have a problem with these rulings because 99.9% of the time the person has done something reprehensible to the point where they can't be a part of civilized society. Madoff lied to everyone and networked a giant Ponzie scheme, and the people/charities/organizations will never see that money ever again. That could have been part of someone's life savings, down the tubes.

On top of that they're setting an example as a way of deterring people that would try similar means of scheming. Moral of the story is: everyone loses.
