Author Topic: Looking for a good anti spy-ware program  (Read 922 times)

I have been using avast anti virus for awhile but it does not seem to find spyware very well, so I have been looking around for a spyware program that ISN'T a virus "pretending" to be a scanning program. Any suggestions?

Use McAfee. It costs $, but it works REALLY well. I have it.

Avast

I don't need this crap, all it does is slow down my computer then make it work any better.

Best program I've encountered so far for dealing with malware, spyware, and any other nefarious programs: http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

Where to brown townyze the logs: www.hijackthis.de/

It's a do-it-yourself program that brown townyzes all your active processes and lists them, giving you the option to "fix" them (cease their activity and delete). There's other things too but for your interrests all you need to know is it catches everything that's up and running and let's you delete them without worrying about the system restrictions.

Careful, if you "fix" something integral to your system with this program it WILL be permanently deleted. The brown townysis website above is top notch though so you won't have to worry about fixing any important system processes and whatnot, just the bad stuff.

Oh. Avast works fine for me, it's even saved me a few times.
