Author Topic: how do i host a dedicated server?  (Read 577 times)

ok i want to host a dedicated server but i cant figure it out. theres something about the command, right? but how do i get to it? and what do i do once i get to it?

In your blockland folder there should be a "dedicated.bat" generally it will use your last server settings (when server closed cleanly).

To connect to a dedicated server whilst in same network, remember to "query LAN".

i looked in my folder and there is no dedicated.bat. there is a dedicatedLAN and one that just says dedicated. i have a vista, so im thinking its possibly a different file name? which one should i run?

It will probably be just dedicated (I display all file extentions (I am also running vista)). Dedicated LAN is not an internet game, its only for your local area network.

ok so wat i need to do is run the dedicated command and then start blockland. i click start an internet game and then its dedicated? is that right?

Just run dedicated.bat to start the server. This enables all your Add-Ons so remove the ones you don't want from your Add-Ons folder beforehand. When it says, "Dedicated server is now running", other people can connect to your server. You may see other text in the console, usually when people join the server or what they're saying. Leave this window up to keep the server running.

You can also run Blockland as well, use Query LAN to join your own server. Quitting this copy of Blockland doesn't end the server, only when you close the dedicated console one.

Note that a dedicated server still needs to be port-forwarded for others to be able to join it.

aww YES!!!! awesome it worked!! thanks for helping me out guys!
