Where do I put mountPoint and muzzlePoint on a gun model?

I'm used to making melee weapons...is a gun any different?Does mountPoint and muzzlePoint go on the handle?

mountPoint is where it goes in your hands. Put this on the handle.
muzzlePoint is where the bullets come out. Put this on the barrel.
