It is generally filled with people completely oblivious to the capabilities of the Torque engine. They either need to learn more about how it works, or question if their suggestion sounds even remotely possible in any sense. Even if whatever the person is asking for is possible, it just has to be something that either already exists, or is painfully useless.
Initially there are four answers to any "request":
- Not possible. *Most likely because the poster doesn't know how and wants to sound intelligent.
- Badspot will have to remodel the entire engine ohnoz. *Could be the same reason as the first answer.
- OH K ILL MAK IT 4 U NP *Gets abandoned instantly.
- Actual reasonable evidence if it will or will not work, backed up by an understanding of the engine's inner workings. *Impossibly rare.
And people with entire collections of requests that they dedicate an entire thread for, they... They... Honestly, what the forget?
I despise Suggestions and Requests. I haven't given up entirely on it, but the margin is dangerously thin.
If they knew about Troque that well, they could probably make it themselves, hence eliminating the need for the request in the first place. Maybe you need to think not about limitations but possibilities. Don't ask if it's possible. Ask if it's practical. Given enough lines of code, you can pretty much do anything. The simple fact is, not everyone is going to know Torque. Expecting every handicap that comes onto these forums to be an experienced programmer is just silly. You are excepting every handicap that comes onto these forums to be experienced in Torque. This is a game forum, not a scripting forum. You aren't obligated to read a request and bring it to addons. The point of the damn boards is to give ideas to the people who do know Torque so they can make it. Most of the suggestions are valid as they are what they are intended to be: suggestions. Knowing whether or not they are practical is not in the criteria for posting one.
