Author Topic: How can do I know if my computer can run W7?  (Read 1969 times)

Windows 7 is using about 650 MB out of 2048 MB of RAM on my IBM ThinkPad.

Holy crap Pitch's computer is better than mine.
Edt: Oops I bumped D:

35%? That's like an entire gb of my 3gb of am. WHY DOES VISTA NEED AN ENTIRE GB OF MY RAM?

The 3D desktop scrolling thing I figure. Plus it starts up all the other basic applications whenever it boots up in the eventuality that you might use one of them. All of these hog up all your RAM, just so Vista can open programs a tiny bit faster for you. The problem is you'll probably never use Excel or Outlook or that stuffty movie maker religiously enough to make their auto-startup worth the RAM, so it's a useless god damn accessory that ends up slowing you down instead. Oh yeah and allot of programs are automatically queried for this so it gets worse as you install more applications.

Fortunately you can disable this if you go digging in some advanced options somewhere, but basically it's one of the many things that was a bad idea to begin with.

I'm just wondering whether W7 fixed that loving local area/wireless problem.

I'm running Vista with a wireless connection and I have no problems with it. Maybe you don't have SP2?
