What, you mean that senseless screaming into a microphone and smashing guitars? No, I don't got for heavy metal or variations, it's painful.
All of those bands listed are far from "senseless screaming into a microphone and smashing guitars." They're good bands with a lot of talent. Yes, Black Sabbath and Metallica are metal. Rush and Van Halen are a couple of the last bands I would call "heavy metal or variations". You, sir, live under a rock. And The Doors are lame as stuff.

Ill try to suggest to appeal to a large base of interests and genres. I wont mention the obvious - everyone already knows who Daft Punk and Pink Floyd are.

Hird - Great lounge/Jazz and Trip-Hop music, Moving On is the only album released so far, but this man is a genius.

The Avalanches - great mash-up/electronic group from Australia, Since I Left You the one and only album is great even if you dont like mash-ups - Frontier Psychiatrist being one of the better known songs.

fun. - Some indie pop, good listen even if your not into that kind of music. The debut album, Aim and Ignite is great, hope they get signed to a major label.

I see someone likes making assumptions. I don't have to have talent to critique music. Anyway, to be fair, I looked some of their songs up like "Little Dreamer". My opinion still stands that I dislike it. You must handle other people's opinions properly. Hazard said the Doors suck, fine. His opinion, I'm not biting his head off.
