Author Topic: How could I tell if my turtle is dead?  (Read 1327 times)

I think my turtle is dead.
He/She is limp.
he/she's legs are swelled up a bit.
Oh yea he/she's also a painted turtle if that helps.
when I took him/her out of the water the water was cold.
I tried google/bing but what I got was not on painted turtles.

Put it in warm water and see if he swims.

Because the gender of your turtle is so important that you had to state it every time you used a pronoun relating to it instead of putting at the top: (I dont know if its a boy or girl, so it might be she). or not putting anything at all, i dont think gender will affect the death of mr turtle.

Take it to drama.

Try moving it. If it doesn't react, then it is dead probably. :c

By the way you make it sound, the turtle sounds like it is dead to me. You stated the water was cold, so I did a bit of research and found:

Quote
Temperature - A submersible heater should be used to keep the water at 75 - 86 degrees F.

I remember when my turtle died, it was bitten by my sisters dog and had inner bleedings, that's what we think happened anyway because it could be the only reason for it's death :(

Poke it
done that. I think it open and closed it mouth.
