Author Topic: "This looks duped" feedback on skyscrapers  (Read 879 times)

I personally don't think that "This looks duped" should be a criticism for skyscrapers. If you spend enough time designing an effective layout for, say, hotel rooms, realistically, just about every floor above the lobby should look identical. I haven't seen many hotels with unique floor plans on each level. And, honestly, if every floor is low on detail, would it make it better if it had not been duplicated? If the tower's got a good layout, but looks duplicated, should that really be pointed out? I don't think this belongs in Drama.

They generally look blander, and less interesting than non-duped ones.

People dupe things for skyscrapers, I accept that, but when they add nothing at all in them, it makes me sick
People should spend time on making skyscrapers with things in them. All floors should be unique
I hate when people post a skyscraper with nothing inside the other floors and hope to get in a clan with it
When I make builds, I dupe nothing. However, If I do, rarely, then I make everything I duped as unique as I can

The least the builder could do is add some interior walls or some variety between floors

Window decorations? Some kind of supports on the ground floor? Balconies with different things on?

In some of these towers the upper floors are exactly the same as the ground floor but without doors.

Well, I'm not defending skyscrapers with nothing inside, I'm saying that the comment, even if true, isn't always a valid criticism, such as for the ones with actual good planning on the interior of the identical levels.

Balconies. That's one of the things I was thinking of.

Yes, but, for some reason, it's been bothering me that people say that "that looks duped" instead of saying it's too simple. Like if you were going to build something like this:

It's the same on each level, but it looks good. If a build looks good but looks duplicated you don't just say it looks duped and leave. It's nearly a dismissive statement, to me. You should try giving actual feedback about it. (This is in general, not at SG)

This topic looks duped.

Yes, but that building isn't a rectangle. It also isn't a pattern of gray 1x1x5's and clear blue 1x4x5's.

Well, if you were to build it, it would "look duped", and looking that way specifically isn't enough feedback for a poor skyscraper.

The way you word it makes it sound like anything that's duplicated is poorly made.

haha, it's hard duping stuff for homes, so i use it when i can to wand a certain brick and replace it, or to get in things like toilets i built earlier

skyscrapers look duped in real life. I demand anyone that comments, "That looks duped" on a skyscraper build topic to go say that to a skyscraper architect.
