Why do people get offended at swear words?

Why do swear words even exist?

Who's the genius who pointed to "stuff" and said "I'm going to make it so you can never use this again in sophisticated or formal company"?

There are certain words like stuff, ass, forget, etc. that I have no idea gained negative connotations, but look at motherforgeter, it's derogatory even if you put it in it's politest terms:

"You little person who wishes to fornicate with your mother!"

BTW when the Bible talks about cursing, it has nothing to do with swear words.

Wrong again. Church talks about vulgar words being a sin. If you, along with the people around you, don't consider swearing to be vulgar then you aren't being vulgar and therefore, not sinning.

Well "Hell" is mentioning a somewhat taboo place, as far as religious context, and damn would refer to damning someone, or ensuring they go to Hell.  forget is referring to fornication, which isn't a casual conversation topic.

As for the rest, I don't know.

Swear words are most used by people who are thinking they are cool.

The majority here use them to display their  frustration or word them playfully.

But sometimes it gets overused.
