The statistic that says "you are more likely to die in a car crash than in an airplane crash" is wrong. It's an uneven comparison, because people drive more than they fly, thus making the car crash numbers higher. The number of fatalities by car crash to miles driven is nearly equal to the number of fatalities by plane crash to miles flown.
