Still, it would have a much nicer effect if it actually moved as opposed to stop-motion animation of several bricks.

You could have a baseplate or plate (depending on how big this is) to have collision turned on when the drawbridge is lowered. They will have to be two seperate bricks though.

Actually, you can have them. I forget why someone said there was a problem with it. Lag I think.
But still, you don't need to animate the collision mesh. You could just make another static shape spawn at the part where it comes down, when it comes down.
