Seriously though. Do you build infrastructure first and then zone in, or do you zone first and then build your infrastructure around your zones?

budget never goes up. you can almost always be at 100-500 profit at any time in game.
way way way late game, you can be earning in 2-4k profits a month, but by that time it might not matter.

the game isnt about making money, its about trying to barely keep your city paying for itself
the budgeting only exists to keep you from building to fast. having infin money ruins the game because things dont develop right.

But mine never does.

I'm curious as to how half the bullstuff things they have on that game even turn into skyscrapers when even the biggest maps have no more than apartment buildings. I tried to recreate the Big City tutorial with leaving out necessities and making it so it was almost impossible to spend more than I earn and it still failed. I wonder if it's even possible to get a skyscraper.

i dont even try to zone high dense stuff till about 8 hours of game play.
i dont even start med residential till i have 20k population

skyscrapers come from high educated high wealth people. you have to slowly develop your sims into that.
the people themselves have stats to work on.

Population's easy to earn but usually I run out of space or money before eight hours and I keep losing money, even with adjusted funding.

sim city 4 requires craploads of memory. even past my computers 6 gigs
i even tripple it on virtual memory as well.
