joining a game

OK so when I got the game it let me go to two peoples severs and now no matter what I do it wont let me on anyones server I just says coneting or request timed out and that's it everytime I try and when I start the game like when I open it and click on the join a game the box that first shows up that tells you everything it says no response from, I don't know if it's my computer or what so if someone could help me that would be great.
