them parts are fine. save money till you can do the rest at once.
Okay.  I didn't forget up too bad by buying the case and the PSU already though, did I?

nah, any case with the cooling you want, and any PSU with the wattage you need.
brands and bells/whistles wont matter much

Alright. I got a 700w, so I should be fine.

My initial question is this: Will I be able to max any current game with Antialiiasing at 1600x1200 resolution no problem with that GPU and a decent processor?

The answer is no.  To do that, you'd need to have a 5870, maybe a 5850.

5770 would be able to max with AA at around the 1280x960 region.  For the latest games, at least.

What level of AA are we talking here?

Also, 1280x960 is fine. I'm so used to running current games at 1024x768 with stuffty settings (by recent I mean Mirror's Edge, I think that's the beefiest game I can run passably well). If I can max, say, MWF2 at 1280x960 and still get 30+ FPS I'm happy.

you could just use a 19wide screen 1440x900 at max settings.
maxing them settings would be simple.

i would prefer that then using a 20+ screen at a lower then max resolution.

This is what I want out of my GPU/Processor combo, and pretty much what I want to accomplish with this build:

(The AA I'm referring to is at least 4x)

Just Cause 2, Crysis Warhead, MWF2, Far Cry 2, GTAIV etc.
Run them maxed w/AA at a medium resolution (like 1280x960)
Run them maxed at 1600x1200 w/out AA.

Mirror's Edge, L4D2, Assassin's Creed, Burnout Paradise, etc.
Run them maxed w/ AA at a medium to high resolution.
Run the above games at a medium resolution with no concerns about balancing quality and performance

Earlier games (most other Source games, TMUF, UT3 and finally (and especially) Gmod)
Run maxed with AA at 1600x1200 with no concerns about performance.

Is that a realistic breakdown for my price?

Bump. Can someone check over that above list?

You'll have trouble with Crysis, Far Cry 2, and GTAIV.

You'll have trouble with Mirror's Edge.

Everything else is fine.  Modern Warfare 2 is not a demanding game by any standard.

So, no, it's not a realistic breakdown for your price, but older games and source games will run great.

EDIT: However, if you are sure that's the best you've got, then go for it.  I, personally, would get an Nvidia card if you don't care about DX11.  A 260 would easily match that 5770, if I remember the benchmarks right.

Mirror's Edge is surprisingly easy to run. Maxed with 8x AA I never dipped under 45 fps on my 9800m GS.

Really?  I've heard all kinds of horror stories about extremely low minimum FPS with that game.  Maybe they've optimized it in patches since release?

Maybe, I remember being shocked that I maxed it out so easily.

Well then, sounds like I was mistaken.

Just a quick clarification, when you say "I'll have trouble with it" are you saying "trouble running it period" or "trouble maxing it"?
