Borderlands - Ratings and Comments?

I looked into buying this game for it's "Bazillion" guns and "near-endless levels or differing substance"

I want to know if anyone has played it, what would your rating be, and is it worth buying for the new Weekend Special, 50% off ($24.99 US)

I guess I should have elaborated more. You'll probably like it as you start out, but after you beat it and try out the other characters it gets mindlessly repetitive. I haven't bought any of the new DLCs, but I'm sure it's the same story.

Overall,  decided that I will not purchase it :S

I like my games to have a "Re-play Ability", and make me love them lots... like Oblivion, Fallout3...  Some old games like Pharaoh, Civilization...
