I am unable to port forward on an airport router.

This isn't true, you can connect to port forwarded servers, the ping just displays as ---

Does the router have some kind of model name (possibly on the bottom)?

I'll find one...

But I'm 100% certain Airport routers CANNOT support UPnP.
