Textures Appear as Defaults

Wesley Williams:
I downloaded my own textures (PNG image) for the terrain, but when used, they appear as defaults. The textures are in the map folder, so is there some reason they look like the default textures, when they are not?
Arcleader:
Three things.
1) Did you name the texture the same as the original name?
2) Is the .png the correct ratio? (If the original .png was 512 x 512 pixels, make sure your replacement is the same ratio)
3) Are you sure you know what you're doing?

Haha nice... how am I supposed to get them the same size as what they are replacing? Why do I need to replace the textures? :| (If you don't want to, don't "waste your time posting to a noob", but I will use your advice)

Depends on what program you are using, but all should have one. Even MS paint has a resizer. Just open it in MS paint, and click on the "Image" button on the top bar, then click on "Attributes...", and then enter "512" into both the "Width" and "Height" fields, and then click on "OK."
This may end up adding extra white space to your texture, but you could copy part of your texture and paste it to fill it up.
