After lotsa testing I am fairly sure they work.

The military gear pack comes with a helmet, helmet+gasmask, bucket, ballistic vest and tactical vest as well as a blue and a red beret. Each gives either a protection or damage bonus. The gasmask works with my M119's toxic shell.

Right now none of them have separate models for when spawned so it looks kind of stupid. I'll update later this week.
