Yup.

They have this system in the battlefield series.
what you do is hold down a key, and you click on an assortment of buttons that animates your player.
for instance, slouching, waving, and pointing at your side would signal: "Medic!"
hope that cleared this up.

Using the animations the current player model has isn't a very good idea and remaking every single animation plus signals just isn't worth the effort.
