Steam Compatibility Mode Forced

Marcem:
I know, this isn't the steam support forum, but no one has replied to my post there, so I figured that I may get help faster here.

Windows 7 decided to force steam to run in compatibility mode for some stupid reason (It said that steam is not running right, so it forced compatiblity mode, I had NO say.) So when I start up steam, it gives me a warning about it, so I'm trying to turn it off, but the thing is, steam.exe has no compatibility settings set, so windows did this in some random menu I don't know about.  I need help figuring out how to shut compatibility off.

Try these steps to turn Windows compatibility mode off:

* Quit iTunes.
* Windows XP and Windows 2000: On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
* Windows Vista and Windows 7: On the Start menu, click Computer.
* In My Computer, open the C:\ drive (or whichever disk your Windows is installed on).
* Open the Program Files folder or "Program Files (x86)" if you are using a 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7).
* Open the iTunes folder.
* Right-click on the iTunes application (iTunes or iTunes.exe) and from the shortcut menu, click Properties.
* Click the Compatibility tab.
* Deselect the checkbox under Compatibility mode if it's selected.
* Click OK.
* Open iTunes and play a song.

Whoda, I can't access the first thing, and second thing is completely irrelevant.
EDIT: oh wait, nope, it still is running in compatibility mode even though it's off.  WHAT THE forget IS WRONG WITH WINDOWS?!
