I think if you're colorblind to the point that you can't distinguish the difference between any colors at all, you're legally blind.

Wow. But why for black and white text? From what I understand, colorblindness affects ability to detect hue, not value.

Those are opposite on the color wheel. It's way more likely you'd mix up green and blue, or orange and yellow.
Caution:
If he's just colorblind couldn't he tell different shades anyway? I agree, it is a lame joke. :I
