Be an atmos tech or an engineer and just wander around loving with stuff until you know the game better.
Then you can wander around and forget with stuff with a purpose.
Also kinda hard to help casue i dont know what you want to be doing.

This pretty much sums up what happens to me every time;
Grab stuff that I dont even know what it does, Explore, go out a door and cant stop in time and be hurled out into space and die.
