Reinstall it /complaining.
I liked it up until the space stage. After that it was too much micro-management and I never really got the hang of the spice economy to actually be "rich" despite how many times Bisjac tried to tutor me. So I made my cash with pirating and happy beams...which took forever.

I'm considering buying Spore, all my friends say it's great, is it the sort of game that goes on and on with no proper goal (like Sims) or is it an action game with a goal?

Each stage has a goal, it's just when you reach the space stage, it moves from a singular goal to a load of them and that can be overwhelming to some people, but the ultimate goal is to eventually fly to the center of your galaxy. The creation is fun considering you don't spend your entire time making snake people or other forms of lame time wasters.
