Create pit traps, (Pressure plates to supports and drop the elves about 1~2 Z level. this will knock them unconscious.
Then have cage traps at the bottom. Violá!
Elves, are SOO much more fun to spear with ballistas.

Logs, supply logs at once. Insane dwarves always die, and you lose the chance of a legendary. There's a one in three chance of them going berserk, which means they'll tear the babies from the arms of their mothers and throw them against the wall and rip pets to pieces, resulting in a potential tantrum spiral.

so i was trying to wall in the possessed dwarf (THEY CANT BECOME LEGENDARIES!!!!) and apparently my mason got trapped with him
uhm
he went crazy, attacked the mason, the mason got a few bruises and massacred the berserk dwarf in 5 seconds
maybe those militia wrestling lessons paid off...?
EDIT: nobody is upset over the berserk dwarf's death
EDIT: please note that berserk dwarves pull every lever in sight...
