Pikmin - Weird fact

I recently played the first Pikmin game, and then I discovered a weird but funny thing. There are 30 ship parts. 5 of them are optional, but the rest is required to make the ship lift. I collected the Pilot's Seat;
Later, I completed the game. Then, in the list of ship parts, I saw it. The Pilot's Seat, which is just a pillow, is a required ship part. This means that if you have every ship part except this one on the 30th day, the ship will crash and it's game over.
Have you noticed this before?

Why the forget is a pillow a mandatory part of a spaceship. Does it give a super power surge to make the ship lift up?

Maybe it's that Olimar thinks it's uncomfortable and can't focus on flying, and crashes.
