Heh heh. Lower fortitude? If you're playing 3.5, I know Paladin gets Divine Health and is immune to all diseases.

Yeah...
Well the problem is if you wanted to do it online, you'd need all the participants to be online every week at the same time. That's a little hard to coordinate when you don't actually know them.
How about a local hobbystore? They often have DnD games going on.

I live far from a bunch of big stores, I think. I wonder if Borders would sell D&D stuff and have games of it :o
