According to a certain book I read, humans only look at the world through the human perspective. Our "world" (also known as our existence as a species) might end, but the real world will most likely go on in some way.

handicaps? They never predicted the end, a cycle in their calendar - Which keeps going, by the way - is just ending, and a prophet vaguely connected to that date said their would be an awakening. The Mayans were brilliant, especially for their time. And made many great advancements in mathematics.
