how about finally upgrading to a new version of torque?

Like someone said on page 1, Badspot could just take code that he wants from the source of an updated TGE and put it into his modded engine. Yet it still costs him money to buy an updated TGE just for these code snippets. This, by no stretch of the imagination, takes years or months. Badspot is making Blockland, not GTA.
Maybe to implement these changes in the form of a Blockland update would take months, but it wouldn't take months simply to update the engine.

I've scripted. I understand the problems in adapting my scripts to new versions of the game. I imagine the work it would be to upgrade Blockland's entire engine for work, compared to just my simple Torque Code scripts and it feels like a scary task at the least.

Blockland scripts rarely have to be updated with the game, unless there's a changed or newly restricted function. And the fact that you've only been here for a few months and haven't released anything makes me doubt how seriously you call yourself a scripter.
But anyway, upgrades to game engines are not major ones that will break everything in a game. Developers aren't idiots; they don't want people to stop using their engine because it's suddenly incompatible with older versions. So no, a Blockland engine upgrade wouldn't "take years and a whole teem ololol", which is why the price of an upgrade that isn't necessary is more of a factor than changing things after the update.

http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?action=profile;u=1175 <-- My original account, made a 2-3 months after I joined. I've released many things, but slowed down around Retail when he started blocking Add-Ons. I still have a few, like the first released Teleporter add-on, Print Events, etc.
As for the upgrades, whatever. I'm done. You deny me, I deny you, that's probably how it will stay if we continue.

Alright, sure, you're a credible scripter. But still, it's not like Badspot would be changing engines entirely. It's still the same engine, he's not going to rewrite anything from the bottom up.
