HL2- Overrated?

6 years ago, comparing to the games 6 years ago HL2 was like wtf awesome insane Crysis eating machines. Half Life 2 had lots of things that I've never experienced in games before it came around, you're looking at it from a 2010 point of view which is very ignorant.

I love playing it in Gmod because I can spawn vehicles and a bunch of crap to make it more fun.

Deus Ex came out four years before HL2 and GTA SA came out on PS2 a month before HL2. Just sayin.
Honestly though, it might be unfair to compare the gameplay to sandbox adventure games that are so prevalent now, but it's not like some of the gameplay flaws that I pointed out exist only because the alternative had never been done.

GTA SA had no physics, wasn't even a FPS so you're comparing 2 genre's. Never played Desu Ex but I hear its really good.
